Learning Peer Group Supervision

Peer Group Supervision groups can be initiated either by potential team members or by the Personnel Development Department of the organization. Everyone who is interested in participating can gather a group with peers and manage to get started. Groups can also be composed as a part of a qualification programme within companies and social organizations.

Depending on counselling skills and previous experiences with consulting or clinical supervision, it is necessary for all potential participants to develop certain skills in an introductory training for Peer Group Supervision.

The introductory training should include:

  • Structure and techniques of Peer Group Supervision
  • Skills of facilitating group discussions: to listen actively, explorative questioning
  • Basic knowledge about group dynamics in self-directed groups
  • Counselling and supervision techniques
  • Team development of the peer group
